I have been contacted by someone outside of our group who is desperately seeking any info you might have concerning this new piece of legislation that, apparently, Dick Armey is examining right now to determine what, if any of it, Congress may want to pass.

It is the legislation that has the TIPS thing in it which, apparently, has been killed. But this fellow sent me a short, very undetailed editorial from yesterday's Washington Post (excerpt below) that mentions the national ID card-- but he can't find anything else about it like, what info would it include? If we didn't get one, what would we be barred from doing? What would we have to provide to GET the card in the first place? Questions like that... Of course, if you find stuff, send it along to me... thanks much... k

Talk about a national ID card grew louder after September 11, but fighting terrorism should not mean that Americans become de facto terror suspects.
